Wednesday Words #14

 {Buy it from Vol25 on etsy}

This is going to be a rather wordy edition of Wednesday Words. Just a warning.

You see, my mind has pretty much been consumed with houses and home as of late. I hadn't shared it on the blog yet because I wanted to make sure it was for real. Brandon and I have been throwing around the idea of buying a home now for over a year. We've spent plenty of time dreaming and doing tons of internet home shopping, but now it looks as if we'll finally take the leap.

You could say that it's all rather bittersweet. Buying a home certainly makes us more permanent. And with that permanency comes a little sadness for my family. My Dad and Stepmom live out of state and we had all hoped at some point that a move up there would be a possibility. But after weighing the options and much prayer, it looks like California is the place for us for now.

It's so hard having Brandon's family here and my family in another state. The unfortunate reality is that we have to pick one place. I'm still waiting for them to come out with that handy new life feature where you can be in two places at once. On one hand, I'm sad for what we are missing not living near my parents and brothers, but on the other hand, I am incredibly excited for what's ahead.

We started off by looking at a brand new townhome in San Marcos, California (about 25 minutes north of San Diego), but after much consideration, we just decided that it wasn't the best way for us to spend our money considering our plans for the future (yes, I am talking about kids. Also please note I said "future")

So now, we're looking in Temecula, California, which is about an hour north of San Diego. Temecula means longer commutes to work, leaving our church that we love, and moving away from friends and family and from the place I've called home the longest. The bitter.

But it also means neighborhoods we love, great school districts for those future kiddos and a nice, newer house that costs about half as much as one similar would in San Diego. Also, I am totally looking forward to a kitchen that dwarfs my current one and has some good natural light. I'm sure you're getting as tired of my florescent light food pictures as I am. The sweet.

So the search begins on Sunday afternoon. I'll be sure to keep you up to speed on the top contenders. I'll have to remind myself that no matter what we end up with, "it takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home."
